I don’t know if this is a bug or what. I’m trying to work with a nested sequence. The original sequence has multiclips in it.

The simplest tasks, like splicing or trimming a clip gives me the spinning beach ball for like 10 seconds before it executes the command. It’s horrible.

Has anyone else tried this? Similar experience?

I’m just using regular DV25 codec. Not ProRes or anything crazy (God forbid). I’m not using “mixed formats” (sequence settings match the media). It’s a Mac Pro Quad 2.66ghz.

    Have you collapsed the mulitclips?

Yes I have collapsed everything. The issue persists whether the clips are all collapsed or uncollapsed.

mmmm. if you don’t nest them, do things speed up?

Yes, everything is fine on the original sequence.

I’ve run into the same problem yesterday. Except that I now get the spinning beachball of death when I try to trim in every sequence in my project, not just in the sequence with the nested stuff.
When running system maintenance and trashing FCP prefs yiedled no results, I saved the project with a new name. I then opened the original project again and restored it to a version prior to the time when started working with the nested sequence. Everything works fine – and I can trim again without that spinning pest.
However, I lost a bunch of render files and of course all the edits I made after working with the nest.

    I’m running FCP HD 4.5 on a 1.5 Ghz G4 Powerbook with 1.5 gig memory with G-drives.
    Project is NTSC DV.
