Cant seem to get past this one, so I am tossing it out to the most productive forum I know – Creative Cow.

Since installing Studio 2, source time code does not get attached to the captured clips, even though it does correctly appear in the Log and Capture window during logging. What happens on the captured clips is that after capture, each one starts with T/C 00 and runs for the correct length, but the next clip again starts at 00.

In the past I have captured many rolls from various sources and not had this problem, and to my knowledge the only thing different is the installation of Studio 2. (Nothing changes when I check or uncheck the QT time code output button in Kona control panel.)

Workflow is from a dvcproHD 1400 deck, controlled by RS422 through the Kona LH, with video feeding through the Kona via HD-SDI (output from the 1400). Audio is via analogue outputs from deck into Kona. Material is shot on a Varicam. System is G5 dual.

Many thanks for any suggestions. I hope this one is just a simple pilot error and easily corrected!

Did you set Deck Control to UNCONTROLLED DEVICE and manually man the deck? If so, that does not capture timecode. Even though you see it, FCP ignores it and doesn’t attach it to the clips.

    Peter,

Let me recommend a two-minute call to AJA. Their tech support team are all real video engineers who not only know every nook and cranny of their Kona products, but who also know about every setting on almost every VTR out there. I’ve found that calling AJA can save a enormous amount of time and effort otherwise spent on the “scavenger hunt” we often call troubleshooting.

    David –
You are absolutely right – Aja support is terrific.
Solution to this problem was the good old “trash all Preferences” in both Aja and FCP.
Now I have only to figure out why there is a 3 frame audio offset in the captured material, and how to correct it while capturing, and not after the fact.

    Thanks for the suggestions,
