    Hello,

does anyone succesfully use Contour Shuttle Pro 2 shuttle ring for smoooth shuttling in FCP6? I have the latest update with FCP6 settings, but shuttling is incredibly jerky. FCP shuttles on for a second or two after I let go of the shuttle ring.

No problems of this sort with Premiere CS3/4 on a Mac or PC.

Is it due to bad configuration of the Shuttle control panel or due to internal lagging of FCP6?

    Thanks!

It is FCP. The same lag happens using the keyboard.

its also due to the nature of its communication process as a keystroke sender … those keystrokes will tend to be buffered by the OS which will continue to feed them to the app after you’ve stopped

Thanks. It`s a shame it`s so perfectly fluid in Premiere and extremely laggy in FCP 🙁

I realize this is an older post. Are users still experiencing this issue?

    Hi Terry,

This is exactly what I have on my Macbook Pro using Snow leopard. Even with the new 2.2b4 driver, the shuttle is useless at this moment.

Ditto. And it’s playing weird on me – using shuttle in FCP triggers Dock (??), jog makes FCP think Capslock is pressed. I realize this may be due to conflict with some other installed SW, though. But it happens at my home iMac too, with different SW and HW.

    Hi Jiri,

Attually, I was able to solve this issue. The trick is to disable some overlapping function keys in the system settings

This link helped me figure this out.

    https://bella-usa.com/support/Tech-SupportMac.htm#F-Keys

“10.6 or later: Navigate to your System Preferences panel and choose “Keyboard”. Within this section choose the “Keyboard Shortcuts” tab. In the left hand column select “Dashboard & Dock”, then uncheck the box next to “Dashboard” on the right. Next, click on “Expose & Spaces” then uncheck the box next to “Expose” on the right. Lastly, click on “Keyboard and Text Input” and uncheck all the boxes to the right.”

Besides that, if you should have a non-qwerty keyboard, you should create select a qwerty one when using with FCP.

The shuttle is now working like a charm 🙂

    Cheers,

    Hans

    Thanks Hans!

    Woohoo, thanks Hans!

I just got my ShuttlePro v2 last week and was really wondering why I didn’t find it very useful… didn’t seem to work well at all and I was wishing it worked more like a shuttle knob on a deck.

Then I noticed how whenever I used the ShuttlePro, my sequence (and possibly FCP itself) was deselected or no longer active, and my dock icons were flickering and flashing. Thanks for the tip!
