I wouldn’t have such a problem with it if they were not giving a discount to FCE users…it is practically the same situation…these people bought the software and learned it all at a cheap price, and they get a discount on the upgrade…what about the poor sap who bought FCP last semester? Plus, I don’t buy that you are not supposed to use the educational version once you have graduated (first off, who would actually follow that policy…until say, an upgrade that was not available to them came about). Secondly, it is not like apple expects that you buy a new computer once you graduate, because you bought yours while you were a student.

If I knew I couldn’t upgrade my Production Suite, I wouldn’t have bought it. Any college student who buys software from Apple is just trying to be honest, but if Apple is going to change the rules and make us buy entirely new products every time they come out wiith an upgrade, then these honest students will likely join the rest of their colleagues and just get a copy from a friend.

If you’re talking about an education version, it’s about the same price as a retail upgrade. You don’t have to upgrade, but don’t steal software. If you don’t like the price, don’t buy it.

The upgrade price from FCE to FCP is $700. That’s more than the educational price of FCP.

I’m just talking about what’s legal within the terms of the license you purchased. If you don’t like the terms of the license you should buy the product.
