For a three weeks I have had this problem with FCP not recognizing either the camera nor the dsr-11 deck. None of the numerous other postings on the subject helped.
This one did it. Thanks to Patrick Mattison –

Well, Ithink i got it nailed. I had to go to Library/Receipts, throw away any Quicktime receipts ending in a version number, ie quicktime701, reinstall the latest Quicktime player and when I restarted FCP5 it recognized the Deck.
Thanks so much Rob, you saved the day!

Occurred while switching to HDV 1080i50.
Quicktime 7.0.1 was at fault. I threw away from Library/Receipts all Quicktime Receipts ending in a number. Reinstalled/updated with 7.04. That solved the problem!

    I love this forum

Ah, that was a problem back when we were making the switch from QT 6 to 7 and FCP 5 at roughly the same time. I remember that. But that was nearly a year ago!

Oh – Is THAT what caused it. Only use HDV once in a while, so I thought the whole process was just a bit buggy. I wondered why the problem went away….

Always nice to find a solution to a problem you weren’t looking for. Now if someone can explain why HDV has it’s own Log and Capture ‘look’ I’d be grateful!
