I set up a separate audio capture preset, just as I have in past versions of FCP for capturing just audio from a digital MD recorder. In the Capture Window, I have Device Control set to Non-controllable Device, and I’m using Capture Now. As soon as I stop the capture, I get a message that says “FCP is unable to read the file just created,” and, sure enough, if I open that file in Quicktime, it does not recognize it as a legitimate file. My capture setting matches that of my audio recorder…44.1 khz. What am I doing wrong? This has worked for me since version 1. Fortunately, I kept FCP 4.5 on the system, so I’m going back to that to capture my audio until I figure this out.
