I am running a G5 with Final Cut Studio 5. I have been experiencing a problem that even after a sequence has been rendered the video playing on the video monitor will freeze or stutter. The video playing in my canvas will continue playing so I assume the problem is with my BlackMagic card. It doesn’t even occur at edit or effect points. However, if I render the whole sequence and bring the rendered quicktime into a new sequence it will play without any problems. Does anyone have any ideas that may help.

There’s a Blackmagic forum which you might want to look at. But I’m 99% sure you are not using the right settings.

First of all, make sure video output is set to “All Frames”. Then, make sure your video output device matches the sequence settings. If the sequence is set to Uncompressed NTSC 8-bit 29.97, then make sure the video output in the “View” menu of Final Cut is set to be the same.

But instead of manually figuring this out now and in the future, stick with the Easy Setups.
