  • FCP4.5 rendering question

I have a similar situation to a previous letter. I have resized some images and it seems that every time I render, the images get worse with strobing. My question also has to do with settings. My footage was shot at 24fps and it seems to be all of the movement shots that are strobing. Shots with lots of movement are the worst. Is there a setting I can try? The project was captured at 29.97, but I have the project set to easy set up 24 frame. I also use DV/DVPro NTSC. P.S. The clips look fine until I try to render them. Please help.

try printing to video. It may be your machine that is slow,
therefore giving the strobing as it tries to keep up. Print it
video and then watch it to see if you have any problemo’s.

You don’t need to go all the way thru a “Print to Video” to view what your quality is like.

But you DO need to fully render at the highest quality and then only judge the quality on an EXTERNAL VIDEO MONITOR (never on the computer screen).

The Canvas on the computer screen is designed to be low resolution. It will not be accurate for quality assessment.

Images that are reduced in size can show artifacts.
If that is the case, you can add a small amount of the Gaussian Blur Filter (say, 0.25 to 1.25) to the reduced clip. Then render and judge on an external video monitor.
