  FCP XML Export Bug?

  This has been driving me insane all day. Can someone please help and tell me if I’m to blame or if this is maybe just a small bug in FCP?

  I drag a clip down to the sequence and cut the beginning and end of it (so I keep some middle portion).
  The clip is 24 fps (It’s actually just a movie trailor I dl’ed from apple’s site).

  When I click on the properties I see that the clip has an In of 00:01:26:19
  and an out point of 00:01:29:00.

  Here are the tricky things I’m running into:

  When I export the clip via xml, it gives me in & out points of 2604 and 2671 respectively.
  The project is 29.97 (timebase = 30, ntsc = true) and so are the clip item times (except under the file tag, it does say the clip is timebase 24, however I would expect the in, out, start, and end tags to be 29.97). My problem is, shouldn’t 00:01:26:19 be exactly 2600 frames at 30 fps and then be something like 2598 if it were drop frame? I dont’ understand how FCP is coming up with something greater than 2600 (2604).

  Secondly, when I import the clip back into FCP (via xml obviously) it appears that the in and out points get shifted ONE to the left (so it begins and ends one frame early). Weird!

  Has anyone seen this? Does this make sense? Thanks!
