Sounds to me like you may simply not have the appropriate/most current drivers installed.

That’s what I thought Robin but I’ve been through the lot and checked. And as I said Catalyst Browser sees the card and will allow me to do a transcode to Prores.

Have no knowledge about this situation other than a historical note…

IIRC it took Canon about 3-4 weeks to update and ship the new FCP X drivers when the C100/C300s came out. I wonder if the team at Sony might need similar prep time to update their drivers?. I remember having to do manual transcodes during those 3 weeks when I was in the middle of a C300 project at the time of the migration into Mavericks.

Obviously I’m just guessing and relating a fading uncomfortable memory that may or may not have anything t do with this.

Regardless, Michael, I hope like my experience, it’s a very temporary issue.

    Could possibly be Bill..

The current state of play is this:

I removed all the files I could see relating to SXS cards from Library – Filesystem and Library – extensions and then reinstalled as per Sony’s advice of device driver first then the UDF driver.

Currently the card shot on an F55 in XAVC mode reads fine, but when I put a card from an PMW500 with XDCam MPEG50 material, formatted UDF mode it comes up as “This disc is not formatted” – so at least its reading it.

This by the way is using a Sonnet Thunderbolt Express card adaptor.
