  • FCP X why is snapping always disabled when I retime a clip???

If I have one clip in a secondary storyline and another on the primary storyline, why is it that when I retime the clip in the secondary storyline it won’t snap to the in point of the clip in the primary storyline (even though snapping is turned on)???

Essentially I’m trying to do the equivalent of a “fit to fill edit” (FCP7) .

But I can’t understand why “snapping” is disabled when “retiming a clip” (even though the snapping icon is turned on).

Also, if you have two clips in a secondary storyline at different places, why can’t you retime the first clip until it snaps to the start of the second clip? When I try that, FCPX just moves the second clip up so that the first continues beyond the second clip, and if I stop right before I wind up with blank frames. Why can’t something so simple as fit to fill work in FCPX???

Those updates can’t come soon enough.
