FCP X HD to DVD or SD
Hi, I work for a government access station and I want to move to FCPX and get an HD camera (not DSLR). How is the workflow from HD to SD? Our station will not be cablecasting in HD within the next 10 years and I have had trouble down converting to DVD in the past. Does anyone have any experience wih this? Any help would be greatly appreciate. Thanks.

You can downconvert in Compressor in order to author a DVD, or do it in hardware like an AJA card if all you need to do is play out to a DVD recorder.

In my experience hardware works much better, especially when downscaling ineterlaced footage. I get beautiful results from my Kona LHe. However, I use software downscaling when working with 24p, so that I can create a progressive 24p DVD.

Thank you for the replies. I will be using either an iMac or Macbook Pro. I don’t think I can change the card in the iMac…how about the Macbook? Jason – Do I just send it to Compressor and choose a DVD setting. I’ve done fine with that in the past, but have been having trouble with my 60D. Thanks again.
