    FCP X can’t import MiniDV

    I have a three year old new iMac. running 10.14.8. Plenty of RAM etc.

    I have realized that Running FCP X work great except it no longer recognized my SR-DVM700U JVC MiniDV deck via an 800 FW port. It used to but now due to OS X changes or FCP X changes. It won’t. iMove sort of does, but not reliably. I frequently get hung on a “Processing” mode that never ends.

    I would like to YELL REAL LOUD to apple to fix this so I can get back to work.

    Any thoughts?

    I just found the answer from someone on the Apple discussion forum.

    Using Quicktime 10 I can record from different devices. The VERY small down arrow next to the RECORD button is used to choose the source. It worked!!!
