Do you expect this to happen every time there is an update? I’m guessing I need to do this as I am missing the “update” for FCPX but have it for Motion and Compressor. What about the works in progress when I delete 10.0.0? Will all the projects and events be there after this version is deleted and the new version is downloaded? Thanks for this information. I had heard about the update and was waiting for it to appear in the apps store. I guess I was going to be waiting a long time. I do not believe this update method is an improvement over the update through the application method that was done in the past.

I can confirm that the update for FCP X 10.0.1 is 1.44GB. On my Mac Pro I had to use Timothy Payton’s timely trash-and-install solution: a million thanks to him.

On my Macbook Pro the update button was waiting for me and it ran to the full 1.44GB which took only 9 minutes to install. For the record the MBP update was done after using the Timothy Payton solution.

[Daniel Conroy] “Do you expect this to happen every time there is an update?”

No. This is a bug with the Mac App store, I’ll bet Apple has a fix already in process. I’ve purchased alot of things from it since January and at first it was really having problem finding updates. It has been better as of late with some updates, but as you can see there are still some bugs to iron out.

8 years later, on 10.4.6, this trick still works!
