  • FCP WON’T RECOGNIZE FIREWIRE

Posted by Catama Productions on January 5, 2006 at 9:33 pm

I booted up my G4 laptop which is connectoed to a DSR 11 via Firewire 400 Port as well as a Lacie External Firewire 800 Drive on the 800 Firewire port. The Lacie drive is recognized but FCP does not recognize firewire to the deck- in my AV settings, DV firewire is not even an option for external video. When I go to log and capture I can control the deck, I see audio in the meters but preview is disabled. I re-installed FCP 5 and that didn’t work. I tried Imovie and that shows that a Camera is connected and I can see video and capture it, so I know the firewire is working, just not in FCP. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THanks

Read the article again. It’s not about FCP prefs and it doesn’t matter that you already have qt 7. Follow the instructions and you will be fine

I am trying to capture in Final Cut 7 in a macbook pro with a Firewire 800 to Firewire mini 4 pin to my Canon XH-A1. I tried all the different HDV capture settings and this should not be a capture settings issue (or at least it should not be) I am in complete confidence that the deck is working fine because I tried it on an older IMac with the same software. The only difference was the cable I used. Is there a specific setting needed to use to capture footage with firewire 800 in the HDV1080i60 capture setting??
