I am a newbee here and his is my first post so bear with me. I am a final cut pro 6 user. I am new to FCP this year. I have been working on a wedding project (HDV on HDV timeline) that in itself is a nightmare, and I foolishly thought I was cleaning the movies out of I tunes to gain HD space on my main drive. By mistake I clicked on side bar in finder and hit find all movies thinking I was in itunes side bar (dumb and double dumb me). I selected and trashed them without thought and then foolishly and recklessly I emptied the garbage. I thought it strange that 7000 media files were deleting. Well, I had 3 1 terabyte drives hooked up with all my media. And when I went to open a project I realized I had deleted all of the media on all drives. Original media, backup you name it. Horror beyond belief. I died 1 million deaths. Well, after the shock I knew I had to salvage and recapture the jobs I was currently working on so I proceeded. One commercial project I was able to connect, but the wedding, none of the recaptured HDV files would connect. I captured original tapes as capture now the full tape and FCP made separate files at each start stop with file name-1 file name-2 and so forth. When recaptured, those numbers would be off by 1. So I decided to rename the master clip to match offline clip in browser. That didn’t work. Then I decided to recapture by log and batch capture. There wasn’t enough pre role and and just before a warning came up saying the files may change elsewhere with the same name. I ignored probably stupidly. Now, FCP will not launch at all. The icon in doc bounces once and then nothing. I ran FCP Maintenance pack and it said no corrupt files or projects were found. I even trashed the project and newly captured files and still no luck. I am desperate to fix this. I have a project that I have to get out the door at the end the week. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it. I have purchased snow leopard upgrade and FCP 7. Was planning on having installed after projects were finished. But maybe I need to have that done Now!!!
