  • FCP won’t encode seq?

    Hello:

Because of some Livetype graphics, I rendered a 2 min seq, NTSC dv 720x 480, plays back fine…went to encode using QT conversion, chose MPEG2, settings all happy, press save, it gives an error message “movie must first be rendered”…BUT it is rendered, I checked many times…what’s going on? Am I missing a setting? FCP 4.5, 1 gig ram, OS X 3.9

    Thanks very much

You need to mixdown your audio. Make sure ALL your render settings are checked.

    Hi Steve:

Thanks for reply – never had to do above suggestion in 4.1, this is first time I’ve used 4.5 to make MPEG 2, so I followed your advice, checked all rendering, did a mixdown -and it did now export to MPEG 2, however, why did I have to do a mixdown, and what does it do, put all tracks as a stereo pair?

    Thanks
