    Hey Guys,

Been working on a commercial edit recently where I’m responsible for the edit, cc and vfx (just some basic mirroring and edge replacement).

I was given the footage in ProRes 422 and I’ve locked down the edit. I’m about to start sending clips from FCP to After Effects to work with masks, and my question is in regards to how to safely export and re-import without any quality loss.

So far I’ve just been exporting everything as ProRes422, even the exports from After Effects. I figured keeping it in the same codec would prevent any quality loss. I’m wondering if I should be using ‘Animation’ at all however.

Any insight would be great, thanks.

Export out as ProRes 422. ProRes can be recompressed more than 10 times as ProRes before you see any degradation of image.
