FCP waveform not ligning up with sound
I’m trying to line up long audio (1h long) with six Canon 7D clips (about 10 min in length) – yet it seems that the waveform spike of the clap on the audio file is not lining up with the sound of the clap. Moreover when i sync up using audio clap reference the sound starts drifting out of sync… I tried to do syncing up with Sony Vegas Video and both files line up perfectly with no issues.

– I’m not sure what you mean. Would you provide a bit more specifics please. You are using double system of some sort, yes? Are you trying to line up the 7D audio with the external recording? What was the second/external system? What is the sample frequency of that system? sample frequency of your sequence? sample frequency of the 7D clip?I’m guessing, but it sounds like 44.1 vs 48.0 issue.

Video (with ref audio – 48.0 16 bits) recorded with Canon 7D, proper audio recorded with external recorder (48.0 24 bits). My FCP sequence is 48 24 bits.

If you created Timeline sequences in Vegas and FCP with nothing but the secondary/external audio, how long are those sequences? Are they the same length?
What if you do the same with the 7D footage? -
I am guessing you have sync drift between the 7D audio and the external sound. Firstly is the 7D footage converted properly to ProRes,

Second half deals with a feature in FCP of stamping audio files with a frame rate which may well be wrong. Check that the audio has a matching frame rate to your video & sequence settings.
