FCP vs Sony Vegas capture quality
Hi folks,
I’ve been using Vegas up until now, but with upgrading to a macbook pro, I’ve started to use the FCP software.
I’m using a Sony PD170 camera btw.
Now, perhaps it’s my imagination, but I’m sure the captured video from the PC and Vegas sofware looks better. I read that Quicktime has a low/high quality check box, but even with this ticked it still looks a lot more grainy than before..
I’ve recorded the gigs (for my band) on DVCAM and DVPAL (UK). I am a bit confused, maybe I’m doing something silly.
Also, FCP seems to have less options on import/capture quality..Could anyone offer any help advice on this?

Just use the stock presets for DV PAL, and then be sure to monitor externally to judge quality then you’ll know if it’s different or not… you can’t judge things on a computer display, especially with the differences involved between a PC and MAC display.
