Sure it does. Did you look at a converter or the Io? Here’s a link to an image of the back panel of the Io.

May 11, 2005 at 7:36 pmThanks for all the info on the I/O box! That problem is solved! Now how about shake and motion for FCP? Red is open gl and integrated/plug in with the avid so you don’t have to export/import every time you want to do an effect and then export/import every time something doesn’t come out wrong.

May 11, 2005 at 7:51 pmBoris RED is a very handy plugin to FCP. If you are comfortable using RED, then by all means get the MAC version and you are home.
Shake and Motion are different than is After Effects. Shake is priced as and position as a large frame compositing tool. Great for film work and large frame sizes. Motion is a powerful image compositing tool that can propably deal with better than 50% of your compositing needs – Quickly. Using Behaviors instead of keyframes you can get things done quickly and still have keyframe control where needed. Unless you have Combustion – Motion is a better particle generator than about almost anything else and for the price some use it specifically for particles.

Red is integrated with FCP as a Host application, I’m sure it’s pretty much the same as AVID.

May 11, 2005 at 8:46 pmRED is intergrated but it depends on your capture card as to whether you see RED on your monitor. We use the AJA IO and we have to turn off external viewing if FCP before we go into RED to be able to see RED on our monitor. Motion is intergrated in FCP very nicely. The rendering in RED is very slowwwww compared to Motion.

May 12, 2005 at 4:30 amRed is very picky when it comes to what cards it wants to work with. Even after updating our card it still is fairly slow. Hmmm…I wonder if all my saved presets done in Red for the PC can be transfered over??

May 12, 2005 at 1:37 pmHi Chris,
For the analog/digital I/O with FCP, also consider the Convergent Design SD-Connect. It has composite, component, s-video, sdi with embedded audio, 4 channels of AES and balanced analog audio I/O. It can do DV over firewire or uncompressed over firewire with FCP. It also has RS-422 to control a deck.
We offer a 15 day free evaluation.
