FCP Viewer Window Lagging
Hello everyone,
I’m running FCP 7.0.3 on Mac OSX 10.5.8, Processor: 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.
I’m working with NTSC DV 720×480 footage and I’m having trouble with the viewer.
Whenever I play a clip in the viewer, it starts to lag. When I drag the clip into the timeline, it plays perfectly fine.What is going on with the viewer?

Not sure what’s causeing this, but if you’ll post more info, I’ll bet we can figure it out…
Lagging, I presume, means it’s dropping frames?
Post what you’re using as a scratch disk for starters. Might just be the problem.

I’m using my iMac’s built in hard drive.

Did you ever find a solution to this? When I place prores422 clips into the viewer window I get playback issues. It’s only on the time that I get reasonable playback – but I certainly can’t play much back in the viewer.
1080i prores422 format
Machine – 2.8 quad-core intel xeon, 12gb ram.
I’ve never had this issue before on any other mac pro.
