FCP Video Transparency
How to take a form and change the color to transparent.
For example, a red triangle over a black background.
copy and reduce the size of the shape and paste it inside of the larger original and then turn this smaller triangle transparent so the result is a red outline of a triangle on a black background inside and out. -

Try using the luma or chromakey effect in FCP but also, if you’re just putting a smaller version of one inside the other, try changing the blending (composite) mode, then scaling it down.
