    Hi Premiere Pro Gurus.

just migrated to premiere pro. i am enjoying what i am doing. couple of
    quick questions.

    1. when you gang reference window to Program windows. Can scopes
run in real time in the reference window??. They only move when you
    have stopped.

    2. in fcp you could add effects to your clips in the previews windows
before entering timeline. is this possible in premiere pro. i could
only add effects after the clips were in the timeline.

    Thanks
    Sean

    1. Only with jog/shuttle.

    2. No. It’s the same workflow in After Effects as well. It is, however, possible to do this via Photoshop and Dynamic Link, but it’s an odd workaround for most situations.

[Sean Morton] “when you gang reference window to Program windows. Can scopes run in real time in the reference window??”

I’ve found that when monitoring the program on an external monitor via my Matrox MXO2 LE and changing the program monitor to waveform scope that it runs in real time. This is on a 8/16 core workstation. I haven’t tried ganging a reference monitor as a scope.

My main complaint with the Premiere scope is that it doesn’t show the super whites & blacks that can be in the SDI signal – Matrox driver checkbox.
