Do you have to buy (upgrade fee) to FCp 5.1 ? Heard some talk about it. Is it major udgrade with improved features, or just bug fixes?
If so, guess I’ll go to macmall or the apple store.

    Quad G5, 16gigs ram FCP version 5.0.4, Qt 7.0.4, CS2 9.0.1

All upgrades from here on out will require the having the 5.1 crossgrade, so the rumor goes. If you intend on upgrading, you will either need to pay for the crossgrade before December 20th, or purchase another full version of FCP in the future.

You cannot buy it through Macmall or the Apple Store. You can only get it by sending in your current disks and paying the fee.

    Go here for more details:

Do a search of this forum if you want to hear other opinions on this process. It’s been done to death.

Yes, debe is correct as I went through this process after buying a MacBook Pro dual intels. You’ll be required to return your original software discs to Apple: FCP, STP, DVD Pro, Motion 2. What I did was make disc images to DVDs incase something happens. I have yet do install the Cross Grade on my G5, have you done so yet? As I’m looking for posts here about tips or bugs.
The CG version is working well on my laptop.

Thanks for the responses. Printed the form out and will “get it done” later in the month.
