Here’s a simple question: Where does Apple put the Updates that we download from “Software Update…” when we upgrade our FCP systems?
Reason for the question: I’m going to be wiping the system clean and re-installing and I don’t know where the update files are so I can update from 5.0 to 5.1.2. Re-doing it through the website is giving me issues and I’d rather just use what I already have, if possible.

It puts them in a Library folder called Packages.

However 5.0 to 5.1 was not an update, but a paid upgrade. It wouldn’t appear in software update.

    All the best,

Right. I have the version numbers wrong, but this information is what I need. Thanks!

As I recall the packages often didn’t work in later versions when downloaded and run from the desktop. It forced you to either use software update or to download from the Apple web site. A security “feature” I presume.

    All the best,
