    Hello,

I’m working through a Unity system and FCP. Last week we had some problems with the Unity and a guy came and did his thing to fix it. However, after that I noticed that all of our quicktime media was converted to the unix executable files. Does anyone know why this would happen? Is it a Unity thing or something else?
Also, does anyone know how I could convert these files back to quictime?

    Thanks

Sometimes, if using OS X, it sees a file as a unix executable. I’ve seen this with audio, flash, and text files. It should still work in Quicktime. Open up the info panel of the file(s)(command-I), then go down to name and extension. Make sure the extension is “.mov”. If it isn’t this or doesn’t have an extension, change it.

I hope you get it all working again.

Yours files Finder Info is wrong. You need an application like DiskWarior or TechTools to rebuild the directories and repair the Finder Info.
Meanwhile you can set the .mov extension to your clips. Set the .mov extensuin> Comm+i (to open the Info window)> Make sure that “Open with QT Player” is selected.

Just beware, if these files did not originally have a .mov extension, then adding the extension will require that you re-link all of these files to your clips in FCP.
