    I can’t shift this problem.
G4 500 MHZ, 768 Ram, 4.5HD, 10.3.9, QT 6.5.2 Pro. Upon capture, double-clicking the clip in the browser, causes the beachball, then FCP quits. Trash prefs, restart FCP, double-click the clip in the browser and it’s all fine.
I get the same quit if I drag a clip to the canvas immediately after capture, it has to ‘quit’ I have to trash the prefs, restart before it’ll allow me to use my clips.
Did complete re-build of HD, system, QT, FCP etc, all VERY well managed HDs and I’m not capturing to my boot drive but to another internal 7200 IDE drive.

I think your problem *might* be 10.3.9… I’m staying on 10.3.8 with my FCP HD system as AJA’s Kona 2 card still isn’t working well in 10.3.9, and with DV captures, I don’t see your problem… also it’s unwise to go to QT 7 BTW with Panther setups and FCP I think.

So an archive and install of Panther and update only to 10.3.8 might just fix you right up. I think the combo updater to 10.3.8 is on Apple’s site. QT 6.5.2 is OK…

Thank you Jerry, I’ll have to give that a go as it’s just like being in OS 9 all over again.

Hi jerry, rolled back to 10.3.7, clean re-instal of everything, can’t shift this at all. I’ll try the Apple discussions.
