FCP to QT conversion incomplete

Are you trying to export to an external hard drive that by chance is not formatted “Mac extended,” but rather FAT32? If so, FAT32 has a 4gb file size limitation.

I am exporting to my desktop and the file is like 830mb but it stops at the same place everytime after exporting. It cuts off the last maybe 40 seconds of the clip. When I did it using basic current settings it worked but it looked like crap (not the crisp HD look).

What was the final diagnoses. Did they get it fixed right.. What are the details…

Yep, I’ve been back in business for a while Nate. The issue turned out to be the fingernail sized “ambient sensor,” which was not communicating properly with the fan controller on the mainboard. It took a week for the repair shop to get the part and to come back and put it in.

Try deleting the render files using the Render Manager.

That does not compute. Exporting using current settings should yield a file that is exactly the same as the video on your timeline.

SO was this sensor, a heat sensor? Was it shutting down your computer or just overheating it?

What was the symptom of a bad ambient sensor.. I am just tracking cause and effect problems… so maybe I will recognize them when they bite me.

And hopefully they never will….. well, at least not when a client is sitting in the room…

Yes, the ambient sensor is the heat sensor, and the symptoms you need to be on the lookout for are, fans running so fast and incessantly that your G5 or MacPro would fly if it had wings.
