FCP to Premier CS5 file import error
Hi,
I have been given a drive of files. The extension has not been specified but my editor tells me , he exported the files from FCP as QT files. The 40GB file is too large for a FAT32 drive as the project is to be finalised on a Windows machines Premier CS5. His work around as been to segment the file into 2GB instances. The first instance being the ‘root’ file to be imported into Premier and the other files to be referenced through Premier UI. Similar to a .rar file breakdown I imagine.
The import of the root file fails, “There are no associated video or audio streams”
I have tried forcing a .mov extension on some of the instance files but still no luck.
I am not familiar with this workflow. Is this common practice?
What am I missing here.Any help would be great.

Oddly, the root file opens in VLC Media Player and references the child files to play the 1Hour Video clip.
If VLC can open it, why can’t Premier?
