  FCP to Compressor Render Times

  I’ve got an 18 minute timeline in FCP, it’s DVCPRO 50, 16×9. I needed to make a quick DVD yesterday so I used the EXPORT: Export Using Compressor option and picked a 1-pass MPEG2 preset.

  The estimated time for the render was just about 4 hours. I let it go for about a half an hour and then just canceled and threw a MOV into DVD Studio Pro, it took about 6 minutes to render.

  Why is there such a big difference between these render times?
