After working in fcp 5.02 and compressor 2.01, things have really slowed down to compress, and after running the latest update to compressor, it stalls out, 70 -80% into the encode. Beachball, and then it takes a hard restart to get it back, force quit doesn’t even do it. Were exporting directly to fcp. Has anybody else run into the stalling out and has anybody found some work arounds?? Thnaks

Exporting directly from FCP to Compressor (Export to Compressor) is incredibly slow and I don’t recommend anyone use that function.

The better and faster way to do this is to simply Export > Quicktime Movie with “Make Self Contained Movie” UN-checked. Now Quit FCP and launch Compressor. Now drag that reference file into Compressor and do the compression. That will be about 2x faster than using the Export to Compressor which leaves FCP running in the background.

I have no idea what Apple did to Compressor as a whole, but it’s just dog slow now. It used to be so much easier and faster to use Export > Using Quicktime Conversion > MPEG-2 but of course, Apple decided that was too easy. It’s always better to deal with two apps simultaneously than one, right?
