FCP to compressor – change in v6?
I’m trying to send a series of exports of different parts of a FCP sequence to a single compressor batch list.
In FC5 the export was always added to the existing compressor batch whereas in v6 compressor opens a new batch fpr each submission. As all I need is the same compression codec for each clip this is the wrong workflow.
I must be missing something here, how do I export from FCP into a single compressor batch list?

Seems to me if you do it all at one time, it becomes one batch. So if you setup a separate sequence for each section you want to export, you’d end up with a single batch.

Thanks for the response Jerry.
It’s a two day meeting to go on a single SD pal DVD. I’ve dv camera master of the whole event but only export a few minutes of each speaker (30), but ac3 audio to synch up with all slides. The slides are collected together as slideshows within DVDSP.
So what I’ve always done in the past is export each audio clip to compressor, adding to a batch, then leave the batch to compress over an extended period.
Unless I can devise another workflow, I’ll now have to export each AC3 file individually. This really adds a collosal ammount of work to the process.
Any alternative suggestions would be very gratefully received.
I am correct in thinking that the ‘export to compressor’ method has changed within FCS aren’t I?

Why don’t you export reference movies from FCP, then add them into compressor as one batch? Or use the batch export feature of FCP if you have multiple exports (even from the same timeline)? There is no reason you can’t do what you want to do. Also, within compressor, you can copy paste from one batch to another, or you can simply submit multiple batches.
There’s many ways to get this done.

Apparently it’s changed…
Can you just drag them then from each batch over to the first batch? Seems to me that might work. I’ve never needed to export parts of a single file before like your workflow so unclear on what has changed regarding that.

Yes Jeremey I’ve never used batch export I’d forgotten that one.
I think faffing about with muultiple compressor batch lists isn’t going to be much of an answer considering the hundreds of exports required.

Hundreds? Most certainly export from FCP first then bring all that to COmpressor.
You can then continue to work in FCP if need be while Compressor cranks away in the background.

Yes that’s very true. It was the fact that FCP was tied up, that slowed me down while compressor was working.
So I export a ref audio-only QT for each clip, then use compressor stand alone to batch process this lot to AC3 right?
