I am in need of some assistance. I have a FCP in the field, but at our post facility, we are on Avid MCA. We transer alot of footage/files via FTP. We are having troubles finding a Quicktime export setting out of the FCP that will easily import into Avid.

We have Automatic Duck’s Pro Export FCP, but I was told at their NAB booth that it does not convert/send .omf. It only converts timelines, so we have been going the QT route.

Any suggestions out there? thanks in advance.

Put the Avid codecs on your Mac and then you will have the option of exporting them out of FCP. This will speed up the import on the Avid side tremendously.

Is it possible to take the avid codec off of the MCA or is there a place i can locate it?

In the Avid MC install disk there is an instaler called Avid codecs PE or LE or something like that. Alternately, you can just install Avid MC on the Field machine. What the heck. Avid MC won’t work without the dongle but for all its worth, Avid EDL manager and FilmScribe will work.

As will the Avid codecs of course. Also, in a pinch, you can just pinch the dongle off the studio system and have an Avid MC on your filed system temporarily.
