No need to get into why but I may come into a situation where I will have to rough cut in FCP and then provide the project to online in AVID. Automatic Duck Pro Export seems to do it all. Would there be any real advantage to using Raylight or Calibrated Software to import MXF files into FCP? IF one went that route would an Automatic Duck to Avid timeline talk to the MXF files that were imported into FCP?
    Thanks

Wait…offline editing on FCP with a TAPELESS format to be onlined in an Avid? Not sure how that will work. Because typically you use the Duck to make an EDL to capture only what is used in the cut FROM TAPE. And that is easy. But tapeless and relinking? Even with Raylight or Calibrated? Not sure about that….not sure how this would work.

If you really plan on doing this, I suggest that you REALLY test it and test it thoroughly. I would really advise against doing this to tell you the truth. With tapeless formats you really need to stick to one NLE for creative cut and finish. Unless you figure out the magic formula. Then you can say that you are the guy that knows how to do this and market it.

Might bear testing…since I have both. But I don’t have that version of the Duck…mine is for export to ProTools.

Thank you Shane. That’s the answer I thought I’d get but you are right,… need to thoroughly test it before offering it.

We work with Automatic Duck to make this happen.
