Hi i am a super newbie and need help.

Basically im a doing a short and want to edit in fcp but there are a couple of shots i want to add effects to in after effects. WHta is teh best way to do this?

I have read into because what needs doing is so small i gather i can just export the shots needed? How do i do this without losing quality and then take it back without quality loss?

    Thank you for any help

    Ben

If you also have Premiere Pro you can export a XML from FCP and then read that XML in Premiere Pro. From there you can send it to AE. Or you can just export a flattened quicktime file from FCP and import it directly into AE.

Just put you clip in a sequence alone and export current settings making a ref file (no need for self-contained). Or put In and Out marker around the shot in the sequence to be exported.

    Import that into AE.

Render out to the same codec of your sequence.
    Import rendered file into FCP.
