Sorry if this has been posted before, but I’ve no idea how to start looking for it.

Okay. So I have DV-PAL footage. I have a DV-PAL timeline. Sounds like a match made in heaven, right?

Wrong. For some reason, FCP makes the footage larger and only a small section in the centre of the image is used. I haven’t had this issue before, I’ve been dealing with this footage for awhile but recently I captured some more footage and since then it’s been playing up. All the previous footage is also being difficult.

I also just tried to play some recently captured footage in FCP and it won’t play it, it stays stuck on the first frame. It plays fine in Quicktime but not in FCP – FCP says the duration is 1 second long but QT says the duration is 54 minutes.

    Settings are:

    Leopard
    10.5.7
    FCP 6.0.6

    DV PAL FOOTAGE
    Vid Rate: 25 fps
    Frame Size: 720×576
    Compression: DV-PAL
    Data Rate: 3.6MB
    Pixel Aspect: PAL-CCIR601
    Anamorphic
    Lower Field Dominance

    FCP TIMELINE
    Frame Size: 720×576
Aspect Ratio: CCIR 601/DV PAL (5:4)
Pixel Aspect Ratio: PAL – CCIR 601 (720×576)
    Lower Field Dominance
    Editing Timebase: 25
    Compressor: DV-PAL
    Quality: 100%

    Any suggestions are appreciated.
