  • FCP time per project?

Posted by Mike Richardson on July 22, 2008 at 6:12 pm

The guys I work for are always wanting to know how many hours I spend on a project. I used to give them rough estimates which were little more than guesses and more often than not things like “about a day and a half.” Recently I started keeping a written log of start and stop time on each project. It works well but I wonder if there is something even easier. Does anyone know is there is a way to tell in FC how long you have worked on a particular project? Maybe something in the XML?

    Thanks,
    Mike

No, but there’s third party software like TimeSlice that I use for keeping track of working time on projects.

    I’m sure there are others.

    All the best,

You can look at the timestamps in the files in your autosave vault. Assuming that you shut FCP down when you quit at the end of the day & re-open it the next day.

    thanks for the help guys!

i have a bad habit of leaving multiple projects open and working on several at a time. does autosave continue autosaving even if there are no changes to the project?

i guess i could experiment and find out… but if you know off the top of your head…

    thanks again!

Another third party software is fanurio https://www.fanuriotimetracking.com . Fanurio has a few reminders to help you start, resume or stop the timer. Instead of relying on your memory and attention to remember the start and stop times, you can use these reminders.
