March 23, 2011 at 1:20 amBut as Rafael says – why did you transcode the clip to ProRes 4444? That’s a hide-end finishing codec for film mastering or graphics work. You are going to need pretty fast drives for no gain whatsoever other than pain and heartache.
ProRes 422 is more than enough – not even the HQ variation is necessary for the camera you shot on.

In the timeline, there’s a drop-down menu. Make sure “Playback frame rate is set to FULL”. I occasionally set my playback to half b/c I don’t like to lose time rendering clips with lot of effects on them. If I can go an entire session without rendering, I”m happy. -

Darn it anyway, I’m still getting stuttering clips. I’ve tried all the advice I’ve found so far on converting footage from H.264 to FCP 7.0.3 and it is still not working. I’m feeling more than frustrated at this point. 🙁
I don’t understand why this should be SUCH an issue. I’ve worked with FCP for years, but this is my first DSLR/vid experience.
