[JeremyG] “1280×1080 is native DVCPRo HD size.”

i should add for 1080 material that is. 720p has a different frame size.

Holmes, there’s no fix as nothing’s broken.

    It’s really really easy.

Setup FCP for DVCPro HD 1080i29.97 and DO NOT TOUCH THE OUTPUT as the Kona COntrol Panel (the separate application that is outside of FCP) handles the down convert. FCP does not.

Set your KONA (not FCP) control panel for secondary output SD 525i29.97.

GO back to FCP and play out your HD timeline.

Hold the phone . . . OK, FCP “video playback” 1080i 8 bit works.
I don;t understand though why my files say they are 1280×1080 and FCP says under “video playback” 1920×1080.

    Yippie !

DVCPRO HD…heck, ALL HD…is ANAMORPHIC. Squeezed. Normally 1080i is 1440×1080, but DVCPRO HD goes a little farther and makes it 1280×1080. Upon export, it UN-squeezes it to 1920×1080.

You mean like I said in this post over an hour ago?

Just giving you a hard time dude.

Like Walter said. DVCPro HD is an anamorphic Hd format (as are most current Hd formats that get recorded to tape/or native codecs). Upon playout, the image gets stretched horizontally to fill the full Hd frame (1920×1080).
