    Hi,
I normally edit in Premier Pro and AE – but have decided to give fcp a go and learn that.

I’ve shot some dv cam PAL 16×9. Now in AE you can create your own stage in pixels. the reason why this is cool is say if i’m creating this movie for the web..say 800×450 pixels i can then move around my dv footage (1024×576) within it.

can you do this in FCP?. The default for us in England is PAL 16×9 anamorphic 48k..but is there anyway in creating your own stage in pixels?

    Nick,

Sure, you can make it anything you want. But there are many easy setups too.

    Have a wonderful day.

Duplicate a preset that’s close to what you want and edit the pixel aspect ratio and the frame resolution. This is basic stuff that’s explained in most FCP instruction or the manual.

    All the best,

    Tom

    Hi Nick,
As has been already told here the “Sequence setting” in FC are very customizable.
What I think that could cause you problems is the size of your picture: 800 x 450.
Most part of compression formats (DV, MPG-2, H264,.) are based in 16 x 16 pixels Macroblocks.
    800 is a multiple os 16, but 450 isn’t. It breaks the 16×16 pattern.
    800×448 will work.
Just a little change and make happy your codec.
    Cheers,
    Rafael
