I am on FCP 5.1.4, and trying to reconnect some media. Nothing has changed since the last time I opened this project up, with one exception. I’ve deleted render files to try to clean up the drive. Now, for some reason, media files that were not moved or touched at all are not connecting. These are broken up files with the “-v” added on to the filenames. For example, Tape 03-v, Tape 03-v-1, Tape 03-v-2, Tape 03-v-3, and so on……..

When I go to reconnect the media from within the project, I search for the filename, FCP leads me to the file, I choose the file, and then when I’m sent back to the window where I can normally connect, the “connect” button is grayed out. So I can get to the right file, but for some reason am being prevented from connecting it.

Has anyone seen this? Does anyone know how to work around it?

    Thanks in advance.

I figured something out here. The capture scratch sub-folder had also been renamed. I named it back to what it had originally been, and then the media was willing to reconnect. I don’t fully understand why it would not connect in the first place, as the whole purpose of reconnecting media is to link media to references, regardless of where that media is located. Oh well, quick fix is to rename the folder your media is in to whatever it was originally named.
