  • FCP reads framerate incorrectly on import

I have a sequence that I created in AE 8.0.2 using the HDV/HDTV setting of 720p @ 29.97 Hz. I exported the file as both Animation and ProRes, and when opened in Quicktime Player the frame rate reads as 29.97, but both clips on import into FCP 6.0.4 read as 23.98 Hz. Anyone know how to get Final Cut to read the clips properly?

Open in Cinema Tools and conform to 29.97. It only takes a second and doesn’t actually do anything to the file (since it really already is 29.97), just fixes the metadata thats fouling up FCP.

I had the same problem. It seems to only apply to QT out of AE.
To avoid the extra transcode step – I export out of AE as AVI/Uncompressed.

FCP reads this correctly as 29.97 on import.
