FCP Re-install Problems on a Mac
Having problems with Final Cut Pro. I just updated to Snow Leopard last week and FCP has been giving me problem since so I removed it and reinstalled it today. I have downloaded my Kona-3 driver, Atto EXP SAS RAID Driver and now I’m getting this error when I try to use it…
Unable to locate the following external devices:
AJA Kona3 1080i29.97 10 Bit (1920×1080)
Your system configuration may have changed, or your deck/camera may be disconnected or turned off.
Please check your connections and click “Check Again”, or click “Continue” to set external device selection to None.
This has always been the setting I use to get to our digibeta deck for importing/exporting of video.
Anyone have any other ideas as to how I can fix this or what I might try? Have I forgotten to dowload something else?

Hi,
You should do a search of the forum. Clean install, updating drivers etc, have been discussed at length.Scott Sheriff

Did you do a clean install, or just update over the old system?

Which time? 😉 I tried doing it over the old one and it wouldn’t even launch after that, then after reading that I needed to remove it, I did that and did a clean install. Now it starts up fine but it literally just can’t see my deck. I have deck control over it, but I don’t see the video and the settings I normally use can’t be found, even though they are an option.

OK. Specifics would be good, but I’ll just go on a fishing expedition.
I’m guessing you installed SL over Leopard, instead of wiping the drive, and starting from scratch with the new OS followed by the pro aps, followed by new SL compatible drivers.

This topic has been covered ad nauseam, and there doesn’t seem to be anything unique about your situation.Lacking more specific info about what you did, in what order, this appears to be operator error resulting from not doing a ‘clean install’. Nothing unique, and certainly avoidable due to the amount of info on this topic in the forum, about the correct way to do this.

Exactly on a system that you rum pro apps on NEVER just upgrade your OS. ALWAYS do a clean install by whipping the drive and starting new.
Hindsight is always 1080p
