  • FCP Project Framerate Question! Project in 24frames, Timelapses in 30frames

Posted by Tony Andrea on June 12, 2013 at 3:08 pm

I’ve a FCP project in which the video I’ve shot is in 24 frames but I have timelapse QT files that are in 30 frames. The project is in 24frames as dictated by the QT shot in 24frames. I think this is why my project keeps crashing. Any advice on what I should do?

All media is either QT converted to ProRes422LT and Apple Motion files in 24frames.

    Thanks for any advice!

I did a lot of projects with multiple frame rates, and I never had any trouble. You wrote that some of your files are “Apple Motion”. Do you mean by that, that you put Motion projects in your timeline? If you did so, that causes the crashes, since this procedure is highly unstable in most cases – the frame rate has probably nothing to do with it.

Export your Motion projects as QT and use these in FCP. It takes longer, but your system should run way more stable that way.
