I am a new user to Final Cut Pro HD.

I recently upgraded my G4 to Tiger, and also installed MBox with ProTools LE and am now experiencing several problems with FCP that I did not have before the upgrade.

    1) Video clips will not play (only audio). This is also the case when I try to play quicktime movies directly from a disk. The one exception to video that I can see are previous sequences made with FCP before getting Tiger.

    2) Sequences will not render.

    3) When I export to Compressor, and try to submit, I am given the message

    “Cannot connect to background process”

I have been told to reinstall Compressor and ditch my FCP preferences, but doing neither of these has helped. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did you do a clean install?

It is always best to erase and install instead of upgrading to a whole new version (10.3 to 10.4 for example)

No, I just ran the Tiger installation disk…and that’s when all the problems started. If I remove Tiger and reinstall do you think that will help? Thanks

I would rather reinstall FC and up-date the ProApp Support etc. Don’t forget reppair permissions after any intallation.

Thanks for the tip. The only problem is that I do not have FC to reinstall. I bought the computer from someone with it already installed. Any suggestions?

I would suggest getting a legal copy of Final Cut.

So how could you reinstall Compressor if you don’t have the FCP HD install disk?

I have DVD Studio Pro 2, which comes with Compressor on it.
