FCP prob jumping from HDV projects to SD projects
I may have things set up wrong.
But when my Sony HD Deck connects to the G5 and I take in HD, I can’t then take in SD or use the deck on an SD project later. I have to go into the library and blow the prefs away to be able to see the deck again.Also if I connect two decks, 1 SD only and then 1 HD, I still can’t see the other until I blow the prefs way again.
Am I setup wrong, is this FCP, Sony?

What decks? What capture cards? What machine, OS version, FCP Version…etc?

Decks: Sony DSR 11, and M10U (the HD match for the Z1U camera)
No capture card, as all the footage on tape is coming from the Sony HDV tapes, and anything else is VCR/DVD into the same deck, Non controllable device, via S-Video input.
I only have the DSR 11 in case I use some of the bigh 184min DVCAM for loading historical stuff.
The problem occurs as such:
Succesfully working on a standard def project, diging, editing and everything. I open an HD project and immediately I get the warning of device not connected and it shows the setting as DV 48K NTSC.The only way to get control of the deck, or capture back is to blow away the FCP prefs and then when it starts up, prompted for preferences, put in HDV 1080 settings.
The machine is a G5, dual 2.5, 4 Gigs, fiber to a Raid with 3.9Tb of space left.
I thought by plugging in both decks and using the DSR11 for SD and the M10U for HD on different Firewire ports I would get around it. It seems to be right at the app launch level.

I had that same problem some time ago and traced it to the Blackmagic Deck control application, which should not effect you because you’re on the Kona. The problems went away with an update of the Blackmagic drivers. It could be a similar issue with the kona drivers – just a hunch though.
