FCP -> Premiere XML: stereo tracks?
Hi, everyone! I’m new to the Premiere forum—I’m switching from FCP, and I’m just starting to find my legs, so you’ll probably see a lot more of me soon as I get accustomed to the new interface.
So here’s my first question: I’m importing Final Cut sequences into Premiere via XML and it works like a dream as far as picture is concerned, but the audio has me scratching my head. The way Final Cut handles stereo clips is to have two mono clips, panned to opposite channels and linked as a stereo pair. Of course this is not how Premiere works, but XML imports bring all the stereo clips into Premiere as dual mono, which makes quite a mess in the timeline.
Short of redoing all my sound edits, is there any way to merge dual mono clips into stereo clips in the timeline, or am I stuck fiddling with track panning on all my old projects? I know I can interpret audio files in the bin as stereo or discrete mono tracks in the bin, but that doesn’t help me with footage that’s already in my timeline.
