I recently started having problems getting video and audio into my cpu (G5 2ghz dual processor, FCP 4.5). After checking the posts here I did all the suggestions (reinstalled drivers & firmware, ditched preferences). Now I find that if I want to use the IO, I have to trash my FCP preferences before opening the program. Every time without fail.

I’ve tried uninstalling drivers & firmware & then reinstalling. Does anyone have any suggestions?

the only way you will resolve these issues is to do a CLEAN RELOAD of your OS, and then FCP, and then the AJA drivers (NOOOOOO !!!!). You should do an “erase and install”, wiping out the internal hard drive. I know what a pain this is.

That’s a pretty drastic solution without knowing all the facts. My advice would be to first call tech support at AJA (they are very helpful) and give them all the stats of your system, i.e. OS, QT version, etc and make sure you have the correct drivers and firmware for your set up.

ok, if it’s too drastic, then go to http://www.apple.com under support, and search for “uninstall Final Cut Pro”. There you will find a 2 page long document on how to uninstall FCP manually. Do this, and then reinstall FCP, and then reinstall the AJA drivers, and try it again. And if this doesn’t work, then you just lost 2 hours, and proceed with what I suggested in my last email.
