what’s the status of transferring of projects between platforms
now that there is an upgrade? is it still necessary to buy 3rd
party software that costs as much as the entire suite’s upgrade
price? or can this be handled natively now with aaf and edl’s?
i see that there have been improvements in these areas. are they
    now capable of such interchange?

    thanks,

Premiere’s EDLs are really solid in this release, however to keep full project data intact, you can use the internal AAF support which should be more solid in 2.0 than 1.5. However Automatic Duck still seems to do the best job.

We are in the middle of a similar project at the moment. A 23.98 FCP project using DVCam 29.97 downconverts of the HDcam masters.
I received an Automatic Duck export and an EDL(Cinema Tools) from the FCP off-line which I imported into my 23.98 HD Axio project. The Automatic Duck does not work but the EDL is solid in Premiere2. Neither worked in Premiere-1.5.1
I have been back and forth with Wes at the Duck over the last few days to see if this can be fixed. There is no Automatic Duck export from Premiere at this time.
I have imported the FCP EDL into Premiere2 and exported it again and they are the same so at this point EDL works from Premiere to FCP
I haven’t tried AAF from Premiere.

I am glad to hear you are happy with EDL in 2.0. It was the bane of my existence with Dust to Glory, so a number of good folks at adobe made sure it was taken care of. They deserve a nice pat of the back. (jerry, andy, steve, paul)
